Product Details

The Pelican 1780 is one of Pelicans XXL transport cases. It has interior dimensions of 42.00" x 22.00" x 15.10". The lid on this case is as deep as the base and detaches completely for full access. The 1780 has 6 layers of foam: Base foam, convoluted lid foam and 4 layers of 3" Pick N Pluck foam.

The 1780 has 2 latches on each side as well as 4 on the front and back. It has 4 polyurethane wheels to support extra heavy loads. This is the commercial version of the case and it comes with the Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve. The 1780 weapons cases have manual purge valves and humidity indicators.

Pick N Pluck Foam

Pick N Pluck foam is Pelicans standard interior appointment for most of their cases. This no cutting required approach lets you shape the interior of the case by plucking out the pre-scored 1/2" sections. Simply lay the item over the gridded foam piece to determine what needs to go and then Pick N Pluck!

Watertight, crushproof, and dust proof

This Pelican Case is constructed of Polymer with an open cell core and solid wall making them stronger than solid core designs. During the construction process foaming agents are mixed in with polymer pellets, causing them to expand inside the mold. The outside skin is formed when the expanded pellets come in contact with the inside of the mold walls. This process is more time consuming that conventional injection molding but results in a structure that is more rigid and lighter than solid core wall designs.
One major advantage of open cell designs and closed cell walls is that in the event of an impact breaking through a panel the closed cell walls will act as a barrier preventing the fracture from penetrating the case.

A Polymer O-ring combined with tongue and groove design provides a waterproof and airtight seal keeping equipment dry and dust free.

Deflector Ribs

Deflector ribs are designed to protect the hinges and latches on pelican cases. An impact directed at the ribs will be deflected away from the case protecting the vital hinge and latch points.

Easy open Double Throw latches

Pelican latches offer amazing strength but open with a slight pull. It's called a double throw latch because it uses a secondary movement to create leverage making the opening of a pelican case almost effortless. These are available on the entire Pelican lineup.

Large 2 Person Fold down over molded handle

The Transport Cases have 2 handles; one on either side of the case and are large enough for 2 people to grab on and lift. The andles are molded for comfortable carry

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel pins are used in the hinges and handles for strength and durability

Stainless steel padlock protectors

Stainless steel fitted over the padlock holes for added strength and security.

Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve

Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve uses Gore-Tex technology to prevent pressure damage to the case while keeping contents dry and making the case easier to open.

Nameplate Engraving

If you want a personal nameplate for you case, just fill out the included paperwork and send it into Pelican.
