The Talon batons are a step away from the traditional friction loc style batons. You can extend the Talon by pulling the tip out by hand and it will lock into place once extended. Closing can easily be done with one hand by depressing the button in the endcap and pressing the tip against any surface.

You may also open the Talon the traditional way by sharply snapping it towards the sky or ground.
